#2010

This year we were greeted by a large-scale snow calamity that lasted until the end of January, but the biggest damage was caused by the hall fire in Polygrafická street. However, for a whole year there were fires of abandoned buildings, which culminated in the tragic fire in Florenc.

Night fire in the old hall of Geodesie České dráhy, a.s., in the close vicinity of the bus station in Prague, Florence claimed on 27th October nine dead persons inhabiting these premises and one of their dogs. It is thus one of the most tragic fires in the Czech Republic in the last 20 years. The fire was fought by 23 units from all over Prague, firefighters managed to rescue two persons from the burning inferno. The fire engulfed an area of a total area of 2.000 m2. Although the roof and perimeter walls were completely collapsed, the damage caused by the fire was zero, because it was an object intended for demolition.

As a result of the smooth cooperation of the Integrated Rescue System services at the site of the intervention, the very good operational capability of the volunteer units and the good cooperation with the security of the Florenc bus station, the immediately endangered building of the new check-in terminal Florenc was preserved.
