#2015

This year, the numbers of technical interventions have returned to the long-term average, as have the numbers of fires and other emergencies. Interesting cases may not be just big interventions, and from this year we have selected one for you.

On August 31st, in Na Hutích Street, while repairing the gas distribution and its main cap, gas began to leak, which then caught fire. This case is a little unusual for firefighters, who were not trying to extinguish the flames, but instead letting the gas burn away. This is because if the fire was extinguished, the gas would continue to leak and there could be an undesirable explosion. Therefore firefighters were only towing cars in the immediate vicinity, cooling the area and waiting for the gas to burn itself out in the excavation after the supply line was closed.

Some cases have their own specific recommended solutions obtained through practice and cooperation with specialist bodies who also have years of experience in the field. In this case, this procedure can prevent potentially much greater damage in the event of a gas explosion, as we have had the opportunity to see in previous years.
