There have been several fires in industrial buildings this year, as well as one extremely sad event, when one of our members died from his injuries at a fire in Zvole. This year, however, an unusual case of a hanging footbridge falling was selected.

On December 2nd, five units of Prague firefighters were dispatched to Troja Chateau in Prague 7 where a footbridge for pedestrians crashed there into the Vltava River. Firefighters immediately began searching for persons in the Vltava River, in the first moments even canoeists from a nearby section were helping to examine the river for people. Further firefighters put several boats on the surface and searched part of the the river downstream for 500 meters and as usual they helped the injured people to transport to the Medical Emergency Services car.

This case showed the unique abilities of firefighters as part of the Integrated Rescue System not only in rescuing and searching for people after the fall of the footbridge, but also in pulling the debris of the footbridge from the riverbed using special tanks from the equipment of the Rescue Department of the Czech Fire and Rescue Service.
